Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
The oldest and biggest national park in Uganda is Murchison Falls National Park. The Victoria Nile divides it in half and is situated in the Nwoya area in the northern region of the nation. The Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park is the major draw of the national park. Among the most potent waterfalls in the world is without a doubt the massive Murchison Falls. An early name for the conservation area was Kabalega National Park, given by Idi Amin Dada, a president of Uganda. After Amin was overthrown, it was eventually renamed Murchison Falls National Park. One of the greatest sites to observe the “big five” wild animals (lions, leopards, African buffaloes, and African elephants) is in the park.
The Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park allows you to see the waterfall’s base, where the Victoria Nile plunges into a deep pool and squeezes itself into a 7-meter-wide gorge, creating a roaring sound that can be heard in most of the park’s great wilderness areas. The cruise starts at the Para dock, and the boat activity is run by both government agencies throughout the park.
In addition to enjoying the granite rock walls along the way, expect to see a variety of animal species, including hippos, waterbucks, bush bucks, Nile crocodiles performing along the sandy banks of the river, and on a lucky day, the critically endangered shoe bill sturgeon. The trips take place daily in the morning at 11:00am and 2:00pm east African time. Transfers can be private or shared with the general public in a boat with other travellers.
The Lake Albert delta boat cruise is another must-do activity while in the national conservation area. The cruise is typically done on sundowners, making it a romantic experience in the national park. Many animals gather at the banks in search of water in the afternoon, especially when it is dry season, so expect to see popular spots of the African elephants and Jackson hartebeests.
It is one of the few places that allows night game drives in search of animal species for the cat family, and the best times to see animals are in the morning and afternoon. Game drives are done using 4×4 wheel car drives that get you close to the wildlife. They have been modified to meet the best of animal sights through their open roof tops. Over 400 different bird species have been identified in the national conservation area, making it a great place to go birding.
